Here's a little about me....

I grew up on a farm (no, not cows but rather wheat, barley, and sunflowers) in rural North Dakota.  Yes, this does mean gravel roads as well as a peacefulness most people don’t get to experience.

When I meet people who say they are from a small town, my head is always thinking, “Oh yeah?”  My town: population < 200 with a large high school class just into the double digits.

I decided to go against the sensible route and chose to study art.  I dreamed of being a model as a young girl and of having my own line of creations that I could make and sell in my spare time.

In college I reasoned I ought to work in something fashion-related like a magazine and utilize my artistic skills.  The ambition to one-day tackle the big city of New York was placed in my heart.  My mom always told me that I was determined and persistent; it was bound to happen.

After graduating with honors, an unexpected detour landed me in Colorado (of all places).  I was wooed by the majestic mountains, the abundant sunshine, and the luxurious life of living in one of the world’s top ski resorts.

I ended up working at the resort television station. (I stopped in and offered to work for free until they were convinced they needed to hire me.)  I had an amazing opportunity to learn so many things there.  I also logged some hours sewing for a local handbag designer. (Go figure!)

A couple years passed and I still had the nudging thought:  Could this sweet farm girl have what it takes to be in New York among the world changers and to make a positive influence herself?

I purchased a round trip ticket (three cheers for commitment…well, you see, I would have to come back to visit at some point and this was somehow cheaper).

So, with two suitcases and two random phone numbers (from friends of friends…of friends?), I flew to NY to stay with a girl I just met weeks before.

I continued to work in television when I first moved to New York.  I was blessed to do some modeling on the side, and eventually took some classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology before making the leap of starting my own business.

So, now we have arrived at today, me sitting in from of my laptop writing to you.
I left out a lot, just so you know. (wink)
